UKGC Slaps £122,835 Fine on Stakelogic for Breaching Slot Speed Rules in 16 Games

Stakelogic BV has agreed to pay a £122,835 fine after the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) found that 16 of its online slot games violated responsible gambling speed regulations. The issue stemmed from a failure to meet the mandatory 2.5-second minimum spin interval, with the most egregious case being Tiger Temple 88, which operated at just 1.97 seconds per spin.

The UKGC investigation revealed that Stakelogic had relied on manual stopwatch testing—a method the regulator deemed ‘inaccurate and inadequate’—to measure game speeds. This oversight allowed multiple titles to run below the required threshold, with timing errors ranging from 0.001 to 0.675 seconds under the minimum. Even minor deviations, such as games operating just 42 milliseconds too fast, were deemed non-compliant.

John Pierce, Director of Enforcement and Intelligence at the UKGC, criticized the company’s approach: ‘With all the technological resources available to an online gambling business, it is unacceptable that Stakelogic were relying on a manual stopwatch to measure the speed of their games.’

The regulator also noted that Tiger Temple 88 remained live for two days after the issue was identified, only being suspended once a fix was implemented. The UKGC emphasized that fast game cycles contribute to higher player harm risks, reinforcing the importance of adhering to speed standards introduced in 2021.

Pierce further urged operators to review their testing practices: ‘We would urge all operators to take careful note of this case and ensure they have effective testing practices in place to ensure they are meeting all the standards we require.’

As part of the settlement, Stakelogic has committed to strengthening its quality assurance and incident management processes. The fine also covers the UKGC’s investigation costs, and the company has accepted full responsibility for the breach.
