Hard Rock Digital Canada Ltd. has officially obtained an internet gaming operator license from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) for its Hard Rock Bet platform. The license, issued on May 14 and valid until May 13, 2027, marks a significant milestone for the brand as it expands its operations into Ontario’s thriving regulated iGaming market.

The news comes as no surprise to industry insiders, as Casino.org previously reported in May 2025 that Hard Rock Digital had applied for the license. This move was initially tied to its attempted acquisition of PointsBet Canada, a deal that ultimately fell through when MIXI secured the purchase instead.

Despite the setback, Hard Rock Bet remains operational in several U.S. states, including Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, New Jersey, Ohio, Tennessee, and Virginia, where it offers online sports betting. Additionally, the company holds licenses for online casino gaming in New Jersey and Michigan.

The license announcement coincides with the opening of Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa in 2025, a $350 million redevelopment project featuring a 150-room hotel, expanded gaming floors, live table games, high-limit areas, multiple dining options, and the Hard Rock Live entertainment venue. Industry observers will be watching closely to see how Hard Rock Digital integrates its new iGaming platform with the land-based casino operations.

Ontario’s regulated iGaming market is already robust, with 44 licensed operators and 76 gaming websites currently active, according to iGaming Ontario. The addition of Hard Rock Bet could further intensify competition and innovation in the province.

When reached for comment, a Hard Rock Digital spokesperson declined to share details about the launch date for the Ontario platform, leaving players and operators eager for updates.
